I’ve been daydreaming a lot lately about getting away.
About spending some time in some quiet place where there aren’t any preschoolers. Where Eric isn’t grading any papers or thinking about how half his soccer team is ineligible next year. Where I have a good (and universally acceptable) excuse for being so behind on emails and social engagements. Where there’s hot sun and cool shade. Maybe even where there is more than one window.
But this week I’m awakening—reluctantly, and not without a lot of pouting—to the reality that getting away just isn’t going to be a reality.
Welcome to the real world, I guess. Right? Put your nose to the grindstone and get used to it.
Sigh.
It’s a good thing there’s joy to be had outside of and regardless of our circumstances. I’ve really got to get on chasing after that joy.
